North Pole is located 10 miles southeast of Fairbanks. The city's slogan is “Where the Spirit of Christmas Lives Year Round”. The population of the City is about 1,800,
but it serves as the commercial hub of the “Greater North Pole” area of over 30,000 residents. It lies midway between Fort Wainwright Army Post and Eielson Air Force Base.
