many beautiful, wide sandy beaches. Behind this coastal belt is a wooded plateau whereas the eastern half of the country is mostly mountainous. Though mining is an important source of the country's revenue, Sierra Leone's economy is predominantly agricultural. with most of its farmers engaged in subsistence farming on small plots of land.
