Hiking the Chilkoot Trail

The grave of Luc Richard and Thomas A. Barnes, who, with all the dogs in their sled team, died when they fell through the ice near the BC/Yukon border on May 10, 1898. They were freighting material to Caribou Crossing to build a pair of steamboats. This view is to the south, taken on August 7, 2003.
Their obituary was published in Volume 1, Number 1 of the Caribou Sun, and is reproduced here.
