Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum
(Anchorage) Located at the International Airport, this is a "must-see" for aviation historians. They have a good selection of aircraft, and a very active restoration program.

The Alaskaland Pioneer Air Museum
(Fairbanks) This museum has 14 aircraft, 20 engines and 500 Alaskan aviation photos. The Web site gives a very brief look.

Alaska Museum of Natural History
(Anchorage) "Alaska's sole museum dedicated to natural history" tells us little about their collection.

Alaska State Museum
(Juneau) This site has lots of information on, and photos of, the museum's permanent and temporary displays.

Anchorage Museum of History & Art
(Anchorage) The museum provides a fair bit of data, but not much of a look at their extensive holdings.

Baranov Museum/Kodiak Historical Society
(Kodiak) Located downtown in the 200-year-old Erskine House or Russian-American Magazin, with displays of Alutiiq culture, the Russian colonial period and much more.

Juneau/Douglas City Museum
(Juneau) A brief history of Juneau, and basic information about the museum.

Kodiak Alaska Military History
(Kodiak) This huge Web site, associated with the Kodiak Military History Museum, presents the details, with hundreds of photos and transcribed documents.

Museum of Alaska Transportation & Industry
(Wasilla) This excellent site gives a broad range of local history, lists the major examples in their aviation, rail and vehicle collections, and has some well-chosen photos.

Pratt Museum
(Homer) A museum educational program based on sperm whale research is well presented here.

Sheldon Jackson Museum
(Sitka) The oldest museum in Alaska has a sparse site with little information on either Dr. Jackson, or their superb collection.

Sitka Historical Society / Isabel Miller Museum
(Sitka) A good look at Sitka's history, current museum exhibits and an online store of Sitka-related arts, crafts and publications.

Sitka National Historic Park
(Sitka) The history and description of the first National Park in Alaska are summed up in 5 sentences on their tourist-guide Web site.

U.S. Coast Guard Museum
This official site has photos of several items from the days when the Revenue Cutter Service was the primary law enforcement agency in Alaska.

University of Alaska Museum
(Fairbanks) This museum has become the top cultural attraction in Alaska. Their Web site gives an extremely brief look at the million items in their collections, and their programs.

Valdez Museum and Historical Archive
