Died July 20, 1900
Walter Monnastes, 19 years old, was working as steward on the sternwheeler Florence S. when it rolled and sank on the Thirty Mile River, Yukon. A passenger and her baby also drowned. See an article from The Seattle Post-Intelligencer of August 4, 1900, here.
