Services For Gerhard Jensen, 1961

Canadian Legion graveside services were held February 18 for the late Gerhard Jensen, who died February 16 in Whitehorse General Hospital. The Legion chaplain, Flight-Lieut. McLeod, conducted the service.

Born June 8, 1908 in Aalborg, Jylland, Denmark, the late Mr. Jensen spent most of his life in Canada. He became a naturaized citizen in 1935 and since that time lived in the Yukon. He was well-known throughout the territory, having worked as a miner at Dawson, Mayo and Elsa. In March 1942 he joined the Canadian Army in Dawson City, but was given a medical discharge.

During the past few years, Mr. Jensen lived in Whitehorse. Until last fall he worked for the Department of National Defence here.

Pall bearers for the late Mr. Jensen included Art Hall, Duff Taylor, Jack McDonald, Charles Reynolds, Bill Broad and Ambrose Kopience. Wallden Funeral Home was in charge of final arrangements.
