Headline: Pioneers Funeral Rites Held Here, 1956

    Funeral services for the late Joseph R. Walsh who passed away in his 75th vear after a lengthy illness were held from the Sacred Heart Cathedral January 16 at 10 a.m. Father Triggs and Father Monnet officiated.

    Mr. Walsh was born in Eire, October 16, 1880, and came to the Yukon in 1912. For the past five years he worked in the heating section of the RCAF.

    Mr. Walsh leaves to mourn his passing one sister, Mrs. Dugan, living in Dublin, in addition to his many friends.

    Pallbearers were friends and members of the Canadian Legion: A. M. Borland, H. J. MacDonald, S. A. Welter, C. Horner, D. Graham and W. D. Reid. The Legion service was conducted by Secretary J. E. Turnquist and interment followed in the Legion plot in the Whitehorse Cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Gordon R. Wallden.
