The History of Butte

Butte is located in the Talkeetna Mountains south of Palmer in the Mat-Su Borough. It lies at approximately 61° 31' N Latitude, 149° 00' W Longitude. The community is located in the Palmer Recording District. The area encompasses 49 sq. miles of land and 4 sq. miles of water.

A relatively recent settlement on the Glenn Highway, Butte was probably named for Bodenburg Butte.
