The History of Halibut Cove

Halibut Cove is in the Kachemak Bay State Park on the Kenai Peninsula. It lies 12 miles southeast of Homer on the south shore of Kachemak Bay. It lies at approximately 59° 37' N Latitude, 151° 14' W Longitude . The community is located in the Homer Recording District. The area encompasses 7 sq. miles of land and 5 sq. miles of water.

The Cove was named by W.H. Dall of the U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey in 1880.
