The log Anglican church, which is still on its original site, was built by the by Reverend Richard J. Bowen in 1900, and the rectory behind was built the following year. Rev. Bowen had been ministering to the prospectors and Natives in the region around Forty Mile and Dawson City, but was asked by Anglican Bishop William Carpenter Bompas to go to the new community of White Horse to build the first church there.
