Best images of each month from The ExploreNorth Blog

Dateline: September 6, 2025. Last update: December 31, 2025.

It's common this time of year to look back at what happened during the previous year. For me, the photos on my blog are a good way of doing that, so I decided to pick out the best photo posted each month. "Best" doesn't mean photographically - images that I'd submit to a contest - merely images that I like because they show what we were up to, and that I connect with in various ways.

January 2025
I only posted twice in January, but a storm warning about a system moving in with heavy snow (20-30 cm) made me decide to drive to the White Pass just ahead of it on January 26th, and that produced 36 photos worth posting - see "Driving from the beauty to the beast".

February 2025
I also only posted twice in February but on the 27th I posted "A detailed look at the Waterfront Trail in Whitehorse" with 54 photos.

March 2025
Warmer weather got me out more, including a drive to the White Pass that included a great hike, and I posted 5 times in March - see "A Spring wander and hike to Bryant Lake", with 42 photos.

April 2025
In April I flew to Calgary for a few days, and 4 of the month's 5 posts resulted from that trip - "Carburn Park and other Calgary exploring" has 48 photos.

May 2025
In May I only posted 3 times, but 2 of those posts were from outings on foot and e-bike, exploring areas that were new to me - "Hiking and biking the Stony Creek Trail" has 45 photos.

June 2025
Five of the 8 posts in June covered the start of a 38-day tour of northern Europe - "Exploring Paris, inc. Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe" has 55 photos.

July 2025
All 21 posts in July were from northern Europe - see "Cruising Prince Christian Sound, Greenland" for a day that really blew my mind (it has 55 photos).

August 2025
In August there were 10 posts, 4 from northern Europe and 6 from a canoe journey from Whitehorse to Dawson City - see "Canoeing the Yukon River, Part 2: the Thirty Mile River and Hootalinqua", which has 50 photos.

September 2025
There were only 4 posts in September, and this is the photo that stands out for me - see "A hike at Summit Creek in the White Pass", which has 48 photos.
