Last Saturday afternoon it was reported around town that some person was
going to take a trip through the Whitehorse rapids in a Peterboro canoe. The report was not credited as it was considered to be a too risky trip at this time of year. However Mr. Perry, one of the Northern Commercial company's employees who was passing through, and Mr. LaRose did not hold this same view and the same afternoon they made the run successfully.
The canoe was put in the water at the foot of Squaw rapids. It was a most
interesting sight to see them shoot into the roaring waters of the Whitehorse rapids. The little canoe was tossed about by the waves as if it were a feather but the two canoeists had her under perfect control. They shot out of the rapids into the waters below none the worse for their experience except a thorough drenching.
Photographer Hamacher was on the spot and succeeded in getting some excellent views of them when shooting the rapids.
