On a gorgeous June 30th, 115 years after a huge flotilla passed this way en route to the Klondike gold fields, my niece and I launched her little 6hp boat on the Yukon River just south of downtown Whitehorse, and sailed from Schwatka Lake to a point a couple of miles past the site of Canyon City and back. This video shows 11 minutes of the downriver return trip centred around the run through Miles Canyon, where the currents were much stronger than you'd think from the video (11:16).
