Headline: Yukon Old Timer, Gilbert Skelly, Dies, 1952

    Gilbert Skelley, 78 years, of age, passed away in Whitehorse General Hospital this week.

    Skelly came into the Yukon in 1898, settling in Dawson City, where he prospected. He lived in Whitehorse for some time before moving to Carcross, where he became ill.

    Road building occupied a number of years of his life and it is said that in company with the late Sam McGee he pioneered the road between Whitehorse and Kluane Lake.

    Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon from Sacred Heart Church, with burial in the Whitehorse cemetery.
