Hance Stewart dies at Whitehorse, April 1925

Hance Stewart, who for some time had been suffering from kidney and bladder trouble, passed away at the hospital here on Monday, April 13th.

Born on the Gateneau river near Ottawa some 67 years ago the late Mr. Stewart spent the early part of his life in the east, coming later to British Columbia and Washington. He came north via Telegraph Creek in '98 and spent two years in the Atlin district. In 1900 he went to Dawson where he remained about four years. For the last twenty-two years he lived in Whitehorse and during most of this time was in the employ of the White Pass & Yukon Railway.

The remains were laid to rest in the cemetery here on Wednesday afternoon. The service was conducted by Rev. W. H. L. West.
